Let’s Get Something Straight | Remembering my Reasons

Alright, so this is going to be a bit different.

When I started the Evolutionary Mind, I did so with the idea that I was going to share my thoughts on various topics that are seen as more controversial. With the topics, being able to convey my thoughts and make everything thought provoking as well.

Well, we are now moving onto being an actual site/blog for a year. Which seems like it was just yesterday when things just started.

The problem with all of it is that I stopped writing in the original idea that I had for the site. That same idea that when I do go back to the roots, brings in more than the average post on this site. No, what I’ve seen start happening ( without realizing for the most part) is that things are heading to being not just for me, or for the reason I wanted the site to be; but for bringing in views and revenue. Yes, those are important, but the feeling that I get when I really write something for me, and that is around the original idea (See 1 Step Forward or The Truth Behind the 2016 Election).

When I write like that, nothing else matters, I am writing to get the sometimes crazy thoughts out of my head and for you guys to read and in turn relate to.

Yes, I am hoping that with some of the works I’ve been able to help motivate some of your guys with the “Self Motivation” type posts, but that isn’t why I started.

What I’ve focused way too much time and effort on is making everything easier for the masses to find, through SEO and making everything easier to share, that gave everything more of a forced feel.

Yes, it made it “Good content” but it didn’t give me the same satisfaction that writing for expression, and showing that the thoughts that I have really can make others think as well.

I feel as all of our have that ability to go astray from where we originally see ourselves and our projects and businesses, but its different when I’ve been more of a contradiction that most.

I preach so much about not losing track of who you are, and what you’re doing and the dreams that you have. Yet, with this site, I’ve lost track of that. And with that I apologize very much so.

We’ve grown so much this year, starting at 0 and gained nearly 4000 Followers and having an amazing viewership, breaking 10,000 views and even 15,000 views in a month, thats just crazy.

When I started from nothing, and that is what I’ve lost sight of, the site is there for me to express what I’m thinking and feeling and my viewpoints on certain topics, not creating or forcing content that I don’t get the same satisfaction from. I want to give you guys the best, and the big thing that you all have started following me and this site for.

So, moving forward it is going to be just that.

The big takeaway I want you guys to have from this is to really never forget why you started something. I have forgotten and I do apologize to all of you guys (and girls of course) for that. When you start something with a specific reason why you did so, never forget that reason. Even when the times get tough, you have your reasons for everything, and that is what drives and motivates you.

Give yourself the opportunity to be the best at what you do, and never forget why you started. Give yourself the opportunity to continue fulfilling your reasons why you started.

Keep that in mind, and power through all of the times where you start to stray from your goals and dreams. If you can do that, you will be able to accomplish anything that you set out to do. No matter what it is, give yourself that benefit, yes it happens, we do forget, but always take the time to remember.

My reasons for doing this is to make you think, and if I have done so then I have accomplished. It goes back to when I wrote about What Inspires me, and that was you. I did stray from what you’ve found at the site, and I am going to definitely be making that up to you.

Thank you for everything, and from here on out, you will get what you signed up for The Best and Most thought provoking content you have read in a while.

  1. Thank you for this and remembering to write for you again. I will be sure to start reading again. Keep up the amazing job. Sincerely, your #1 fan.

  2. Someone, somewhere, recently wrote: Don’t ever regret the journey, that is what got you where you are now… (paraphrased – I wish I could remember where I read it… lol). I think it’s awesome that you’ve built up such a following in such a short amount of time. Now, perhaps, you can relax and go back to that original idea?

Because, the reality of the WP medium, is that it is about the numbers of followers. It’s not easy to network, although the new reader is starting to put ‘you might like to see’ posts in there, which I appreciate.

  3. So how did you know I was going to read this particular post. There have been so many I had kind of skipped a lot. Anyhow, lately at my Blog I have been focusing on how to get more traffic. Trying to make everything easier for the masses to find. Focusing on ‘tags’ as opposed to content. And it does take the fun out of the writing, for me. Yes, I do want followers but my original idea was to use my blog as a way to chronicle my book writing venture and as a way to share inspiration. I am happy every time I get a new follower, I appreciate them especially when I remember that I started my blog with no idea whether anyone would even want to read my writing. Some have been with me from the beginning and I get new folks periodically. I started late 2014 and I have since become a published author and met really great people through WP. So, thank you, I really do not want to immerse myself so much into how to get more views that I lose track of my desire to inspire, because blogging has been very good for me. I love it. And I love reading other people’s posts, including yours!

    • I just wanted to clear the air, and get back on track with why I started the site. Writing might not be the most mainstream way to reach people, but it still conveys an idea very well. I definitely feel that a lot of followers are in the same boat as you, and I want to give you guys what you really signed up for.
Thank you for reading, and I’m definitely glad you’ve found why you got back into writing for you as well!

  4. I agree with your insights in this article. Blog writing can start to feel very artificial and unsatisfying when we are just always worrying about SEO and how to get more viewers. I’d rather have fewer followers who really read and enjoy my writing, than a whole lot who are just “following” me so I will “follow” them and may never even read what I write. High numbers are great, but as you said, it’s the freedom to express ourselves and write about what we care about that really matters in the long run.
